On December 5, 2018, the Haitian Music Industry was rocked by the announcement: Dener Ceide, a distinguished composer and accomplished musician, and Reginald Cangé, a prominent figure in the Haitian music scene, were set to establish their own musical group: ZAFEM. Two giants of contemporary Haitian music had merged their talents, promising a tidal wave of musical innovation.
Zafèm's sound is a unique and mesmerizing fusion of kompa, zouk, jazz, soul, funk, and world music, that transcends genres. A remarkable band known for their captivating melodies and heartfelt lyrics, Zafèm explores various Haitian musical rhythms, with nods to traditional music and other regional Caribbean beats.
Through their dedication and resilience, Zafèm gained recognition, a devoted fan base, and critical acclaim with their debut album, LAS. Released on May 5, 2023, LAS offers its audience an unprecedented musical journey. Featuring 16 tracks including standout songs such as "Le Plein," "Dlo Dos," and "Abracadabra," the album has achieved immediate success. Zafèm is one of the few Haitian music acts to enter the Billboard charts. LAS opened at No. 25 on Heatseekers Albums, No. 50 on the Top Current Album Sales and No. 87 on the Top Album Sales. The sum also helped the due enter at No. 36 on the Emerging Artists chart. LAS also became the first album by a Haitian group to reach 3 million streams on Audiomack.
